I would like to take this opportunity to recommend another visit from the Mystery Worshipper. The last visit was a long time ago, and was at a very low key evening mass that doesn't reflect the welcoming nature of the cathedral.
The solemn mass at 11.30 has all the smells and bells expected, a full cathedral choir in school term time, welcomers, and post-mass tea.
I highly recommend it - see the website for full details and a music list.
