There are real fears that when the Pope celebrates mass in Cofton Park, Birmingham, next month, he might accidentally beatify the wrong man.
If that happens, then Albert Steptoe, the crafty old rag and bone man in 1960s TV sitcom, Steptoe and Son, will be well on the way to sainthood and could be expected to work miracles for sinners in need. Meanwhile, his lookalike, Cardinal John Henry Newman, would sink into obscurity.
Please pray for the Pope at this difficult and confusing time.
