In addition, to Koopercamp and Packard, other religious leaders arrested at Lent Space include Rev. Juan Carlos Ruiz, Sister Susanna, Father Paul Mayer, and the Rev. John Merz. According to Koopercamp, a total of 24 men and 13 women were arrested at Lent Space and taken to One Police Plaza. They were joined with about seven or eight other men who were arrested as the group marched to Times Square.
At 7pm, those arrested held a General Assembly in jail facilitated by Bishop Packard, which was concurrent with the General Assembly held by Occupy Wall Street. At 10pm the police begin to release people. Shortly before midnight, Rev. Merz and Rev. Koopercamp were the last clergy to be released.
According to Kooperkamp, they do not see themselves returning to Lent Space in the forseeable future. But stay tuned to Occupy Faith for signs of where the spirit may be speaking.
