201: St Joseph home selling kit |
If you need to sell your house before the bank does it for you, then $9.99 for a miraculous, house-selling, four-inch plastic statue of St Joseph may be the best investment you ever made. And if you believe that, then seek professional help now.
Joseph is the patron saint of homes, so the idea is that you bury him head-down facing the house, read a prayer, and then... bingo! A buyer turns up. According to the website, the tradition of head-down burial comes from the ancient practice of trying to bully the saints into getting what you want from them. "Sell my house, St Joe, and then I'll give you a nice, Christian burial."
It seems to work, though. Mary Watson of Brooklyn, a real estate agent, testifies thus: "I have bought more than 20 statues. For most of my clients this really works and it works fast."
An unpainted St Joseph is available for three bucks less than the painted version, but what its success rate is, we’re not told. Available here.
