No trick - just a treat on Hallowe'en Songs of Praise
Songs of Praise

BRITAIN'S LONGEST-RUNNING religious TV show received a special blessing during last Sunday night’s programme.

Broadcast on Hallowe’en (October 31st), the programme featured a robed choir, a pop group and an ex-convict – but an unexpected guest was Jesus Christ Himself.

Alert viewers spotted Him in the background during an otherwise forgettable worship song played by a religious pop band (see picture above). His trademark long hair and beard, as popularized on the Shroud of Turin, were clearly visible, and brought gasps from millions of the faithful around the country.

Many reached out to touch their TV sets for a blessing; those with plasma screens receiving a double portion. Others said it was no coincidence that God was "visiting and comforting his people" on that most evil of days, Hallowe'en.

It’s not the first time that unexpected visitors from above have stolen top billing on Songs of Praise. Viewers have reported sightings of the Virgin Mary and the apostles on previous editions – so it was only a matter of time before heaven's Main Act made his debut.

Further footage (above) revealed Our Lord to be playing bass guitar and remaining out of the spotlight, with characteristic humility. Truly it has been said that God grooves in mysterious ways.
