Laugh Judgment board | Other board guidelines
Welcome to the Laugh Judgment discussion board. Although the board is about jokes, what we're doing here has a serious purpose.
We want to understand why some people find particular religious jokes funny, while others regard them as blasphemous. We think it's important today to understand what causes religious offense. So feel free to enjoy the jokes and make your own smart and funny comments, but above all please respect this as an intelligent debate of the issues.
1. Don't post your own joke here – sorry, but we're no longer accepting new jokes. Please don't post your own jokes on this board, but join in with discussion on the existing ones.
2. No personal attacks – humour is necessarily subjective, and we all have different opionions about where the boundary between amusing and offensive is. Disagree with the view, not the person. The statement, "View X is stupid," is acceptable. The statement, "Person X is stupid," is not.
3. Expect to be disagreed with! This is how good debate is conducted. Questioning of your opinions should be taken as a compliment about their weight.
4. Stick to the point! Please do not wander off into unrelated issues or social banter. There are other boards on the ship for these pursuits.
5. Personality clashes – take personal attacks and disagreements to the Hell board, where they won't bother other posters.
6. Your hosts in The Laugh Judgement are Duo Seraphim, Pyx_e, and Starbelly. They edit and supervise the running of the board, and any complaints or suggestions should intially be directed to them.
