How can I use smilies?

Smilies are keyboard characters used to convey a mood or emotion, such as a smile :) or a frown :(. These bulletin boards automatically convert certain smilies into an icon which you can use in your messages. You'll see a whole crowd of smilies when you go to post a message. Just click the one you want, and the correct code for that smilie will appear in the message window.

Can I add HTML to my messages?

Sorry, but no. HTML code will not work in messages on these boards. This helps the pages to load more speedily. You can, however, use UBB code in your messages – see the next section for details.

What is UBB code?

UBB Code is similar to HTML, but offers just a few basic functions, such as hyperlinking, image display, and text formatting in bold and italic. Complete details on UBB Code are listed here.

Can I edit my own posts?

Yes, for the two minutes immediately following post submission. After that, members may no longer edit their posts, though hosts and administrators can edit at any time.

Can I ask one of the board hosts to delete my post?

Not usually. Hosts do not delete individual posts, except where they are duplicates of another post. To remove an individual post which has become the subject of the rest of the discussion can render a thread nonsensical.

Can I attach files to my posts?

For security reasons, you cannot attach files to your posts. You may cut and paste text into your post, however, or use UBB code to provide hyperlinks to outside documents.

Can I be notified by email if someone responds to my thread?

If you create a new thread, you have the option of receiving email notification every time someone posts a reply to your thread. Simply check the email notification box when creating a new topic if you want to use this feature.
