DESTRUCTIVE STRATEGY The purpose of all this destruction seems to be to provide a car park next to Rachel’s tomb with access only from outside Bethlehem. This punitive action of the Israeli authorities has separated this place of pilgrimage from the local Palestinian community and removed it as a source of income for the people of Bethlehem.
