We met with local Bethlehem Christians who were totally demoralised by their situation. "In Bethlehem, we are hostages to fear and paranoia," one person told us. Many of these families' ancestors lived in Bethlehem for over 400 years, but since 2000, 500 to 600 families have left, demoralised. Meanwhile, the children of those who remain show symptoms of fear through stress-related conditions, such as habitual bed-wetting.
